Professor Yozo Yokota
Full Name: Yozo Yokota
Professor Yokota is a member of IIGEP. He was Legal Counsel of the World Bank (1974-1976), Professor of International Law at International Christian University (1979-1995), Alternate Member of the UN Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities (1988-2000), UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar (1992-1996), Professor of International Economic Law of the University of Tokyo (1995-2001), Member of the UN Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (2000-2006) and Professor of International Law at Chuo University Faculty of Law (2001-2004). He has been Special Adviser to the Rector of the United Nations University (from 2001), Professor of International Law at Chuo Law School (from 2004) and President of the Center for Human Rights Affairs of Japan.
Professor Yokota was born in 1940 on a Japanese boat traveling from Marseilles to Yokohama crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He was the author of many books including Twentieth Century and International Organization (1989), Legal Structure of International Organization (2001) and Human Rights in Japan and in the World (2003). He was awarded the Shigeru Yoshida Prize (1980), Mineichiro Adaci Prize (1980) and Ryoko Akamatsu Prize (2006). |
